eCommerce continues to shape the future of B2C and B2B

The data in your ERP system (whether Sage 100, Acumatica, or another ERP) is an important asset for managing and growing your business. So many of your company’s processes are connected to each other through the procedures, tracking, and controls that a solid ERP system provides. When ERP is done right, it’s a centralized, scalable, accessible resource for leveraging the data generated by your business activities. Using an ERP system creates a host of benefits, including improved inventory costs, actionable support for decision-making, improved customer service, reduced production bottlenecks, and much more.

And yet, your ERP system can’t do everything. There are other systems you must rely upon to achieve the competitive advantages necessary for continued innovation and growth. You may use additional systems specifically for customer service and support ticketing, or for point of sale transactions, or for warehouse management. Along with these common options, one type of system that unprecedented numbers of suppliers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and manufacturers are turning to now is an integrated eCommerce system.

In the not-so-distant past, eCommerce was thought of primarily as a tool for enabling B2C sales. Today, eCommerce has become as much of a necessity for B2B companies as it has been for B2C companies. This is largely due to the fact that B2B buyers are increasingly conducting corporate purchases online, after first researching B2B websites. These statistics tell the story: in 2019, U.S. eCommerce wholesale trade sales were worth $2.9 trillion and accounted for 33% of total wholesale shipments, while for US manufacturers, online sales accounted for over 67% of U.S. manufacturing shipments. There’s no doubt about it: eCommerce will continue shaping the future of the B2B industry.

So, what’s your situation? Whether your business sells B2C, B2B, or a combination of both, you probably see yourself in one of these three categories:

  1. You want to do eCommerce but you don’t know where to start.
  2. You’re doing eCommerce already, but it’s not integrated with your ERP system.
  3. You’re doing eCommerce and it’s integrated, but you need to make changes because it’s not solving the problems you needed it to solve.

Wherever you are in your eCommerce journey, our guide can help you get smart about Sage 100 eCommerce and get started (or re-started) right.
