The Challenge: Modernize and Fully Automate an Outdated, Manual Order Process
The North American subsidiary, Pajunk Medical Systems L.P., had an order process that was outdated and entirely manual. Prior to their internal push for automation in 2021, the large majority of orders were received via email or fax and then printed out and manually entered into Sage 100 for processing.
With each order requiring an extensive amount of manual touchpoints, Pajunk’s IT team wanted a way to not only fully automate their order processing, but to also leverage a new opportunity that had been presented to them.
“While exploring possible automation solutions, we came across the Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX). This platform is where over 70% of hospitals in the US come to purchase the medical supplies they need. If we could integrate with GHX’s platform then we could receive direct transactions from their portal with all of these different hospitals rather than having to build an EDI relationship with them individually. The only problem, our Sage 100 was not EDI ready,” explains Insha Naqvi, Information Technology Manager, Pajunk USA.
With an immediate need to interface their Sage 100 system with the Boomi platform (already in use with Pajunk’s global partners) to automate the large volume of sales coming through GHX, Pajunk began their search for a trusted IT partner.
The Solution: EDI Advantage Integration for Sage 100
Pajunk went through several weeks of research searching for an affordable, easy-to-use EDI module for Sage 100 before partnering with Kissinger.
Due to Pajunk’s specific needs of wanting to automate all orders received from GHX through the Boomi platform into Sage 100, EDI Advantage was an optimal choice: it provided Pajunk with the flexibility they needed to meet any and all platform or trading partner requirements.
As a result, Kissinger implemented four maps as part of Pajunk’s solution:
Inbound Purchase Order (850)
An Inbound Purchase Order map was implemented to integrate purchase orders received from GHX as sales orders in Sage 100.
Outbound Purchase Order Acknowledgement (855)
An Outbound Purchase Order Acknowledgement map was implemented for replying back to GHX that their electronic purchase order was received and is processing.
Outbound Invoice (810)
An Outbound Invoice map for generating EDI invoices (from Pajunk’s Sage 100 invoices) to be sent to GHX in the required EDI data format.
Outbound Advance Ship Notification (856)
An Outbound Advance Ship Notification (ASN) map for informing GHX when an order has shipped.
